Climbing up Engineer Pass. Not a difficult road at this point. Didn't even need 4-wheel drive |
You can see the snow starting to stick in the mountains above us |
Looking out as it is snowing. It is not really sticking to the ground where we were |
Some pretty deep ruts here. Had it 4-wheel drive and went right through them |
You can see how distorted our axle got as we went through the ruts |
All that to reach this abandoned mine. They had it gated off so we couldn't look inside |
This sure looked a lot steeper when we were going down it. I buried our hitch in the mud while climbing
up here |
This is looking down about 1500 feet into a river. The path at this point was about 8 feet wide
but very flat
This is looking down the valley that we will be travelling towards. This is the same point as
the picture above except you are looking out and not down
Here are the Utah Watsons in front of us - those leaves were a neon yellow. Beautiful! |
Just about finished here - you can see the roadway in the bottom part of the picture |
On the way back to Cascade Village we stopped into Silverton to see the town a little more.
This is looking up the street one way |
And this is looking down the street the other way - not much to see except a gravel road and
some shops |
